10 Things I learned from watching RuPaul's Drag Race

As some of you may know, I am deeply obsessed with RuPaul's Drag Race. With Season 8 and the 100th episode airing today, I've decided to express my emotions through a FABULOUS AND SICKENING LIST! Here is what this show has done for me.

10. Believe in Your Craft; WORK IT OUT!

Sometimes, we wish we could pull off things we don't think we are good at. But hey, no one has to know what a wreck you are. COMMIT TO YOUR LOOK. Commit to your talent, and commit to yourself. Once you do, no one can come for you baby. You've got this in the bag. Unless you cause a total car crash and piss off Mama Ru.

9. You're more than just a pretty face

Although to be a successful drag queen one must master the art of giving GOOD FACE, Mama Ru has taught me that it takes more than just FACE to be a drag superstar. While looking for Charisma, Uniqueness, Nerve, and Talent, you have to remember that even though you may not be good at something, if you apply the Force of the Fierce you can excel in any challenge and be the true QWEEN your heart knows you to be.

8. You are not alone

I've clearly seen every single episode this series has to offer, so you could say I know my queens by heart. To be a drag queen one must be fierce, tough, and always keep your guard up. It was so heartwarming to always see one of them share something very personal in which you can actually relate to. Pandora Boxx, Trixie Mattel, and of course my beloved Katya. Katya out of all of them struck a cord because I truly had a hard time loving myself just like she did. That was my defining moment of "I'm not the only one." Everyone has gone through their share of struggles, but to be able to still get up every morning and looking fierce?  Any person that can walk out that door with a wig, some heels and beat for the gods is my personal hero.

7. Category is: WHO CARES!?

So what if they don't agree with how you look, what you do, and what you like? They just can't handle all this skin honey, and you know what? LET THEM EAT. IT. I'm not here to impress nobody but Mama and her $100,000. I'm not competing, but life is a competition in which I've already trampled many times until I stopped caring about other's opinions. You should try it!

6. The ART OF READING and throwing SHADE

 THE SHADE OF IT ALL.
So what is reading? Like a book? Shade? As in like under the tree? Well darling, in my magical world of drag, we have our own definition for both. In the great tradition of Paris Is Burning, reading is the act of stating a fact in a funny nature so it's less offensive (not really) but everyone gets a good laugh out of it! Shade shade shade. It's the act of fakeness, rudeness, or what one shall call "SHADY" and let me tell you. No one likes a shady queen. Don't be that queen.

5. Everything can be resolved with a Lip Sync 4 Your Life

By now you should know that a drag queen's main forte is obviously female impersonation by not only looks but with LIP SYNCS. So after the competition has been thoroughly judged, Mama Ru will pick her bottom 2 and they must face off with a fierce lip sync in order to stay and keep competing. HONEY THE FIERCE IS SO REAL. The hair on your arms will rise, you cheeks will flush, and you'll feel electric through your veins watching these. The passion and the talent is amazing, and I am a firm believer that you can fight wars with Lip Syncs.

4. You are Beautiful; You are FIERCE.

Confidence is something I've always felt I lacked. Now I feel unstoppable, and I'm probably way too confident for the audience of today (I can come off intimidating). These queens taught me to love myself, and to always look in the mirror and say, "you look good girl!" Because if you don't believe it, no one else will. At the end of the day, the only opinion that matters is yours, and it should always be a good one.

3. DRAG IS ART

Some may argue that drag is just putting on a wig and beating your face. I beg to differ. Drag is an art form. Doing impersonations, lip syncs, and choreography. Sometimes signing, acting, dancing. Drag is an inspiration to me. I try to embody it, even though I am already a woman. Because one can be a woman, but can also lack the fierceness. GIVE THEM ALL THE FIERCE HONEY. YOU ARE A QUEEN!

2. Demand more and let them EAT IT!

"Know your worth, and demand 3 times of that." If people aren't on your level, leave. You're the first and most important priority in your life. It should be that way always. Get what you want, because you can obtain it. That's the whole point of this show. Aside from being a DRAG SUPERSTAR.

1. "If you can't love yourself, how in the hell are you gonna love somebody else."

Self explanatory. Basically what my message has been through this entire post. Love yourself. You are the most important person in your life. If you can't love yourself, then how are you gonna allow people to come into your life? This world has many things to offer, and I am so glad that Drag is part of my life. I couldn't be more grateful for this show, for these queens, and for the LGBTQ Community who even though they've suffered from bullying and harsh hate, they still have open arms for love.

I love my life entirely, and I thank RuPaul's Drag Race for that.

We Are Who We Are A masterpiece from Luca Guadanino BECAUSE MY HEART IS BREAKING. AT THE FACT THAT NOT MANY PEOPLE ARE WATCHING. That's alright, I didn't watch Euphoria so I guess we are even? I hear it's a similar concept except the ones in this program have no real issues that can justify. At least Fraser. Who happens to be my favorite. Who happens to be the one I relate to. Why am I so OBSESSED? Maybe because all I can remember from my time in Italy is being constantly drunk. Wine, Tequila, Limoncello, and Prosecco. Venezia, to be precise. Is it because the soundtrack resonates with my long walks to nowhere. Eating shit, beating heart. Walking along those canals and running towards buses. Camping ground fun. Not to mention, the beginning of the heartbreaks. Merletto Veneziano, biliardo, baciato dal sole.  Because maybe inside I am unlikeable. Broken, but putting my strong fronts. Maybe I don't want to be liked either. Yet people persist...  I can't stand how much

song is on my mind

Cool For The Summer - Demi Lovato Boy does this song bring me major, major, nostalgia of my time in Europe. At the time, I believe Season 9 of RPDR was on, and Shea Coulee had to LS4YL to this song. I was pretty entranced by the beat, quite familiar with the lyrics as well. This song got me through that bus ride to "Eastern Europe" (its actually central, as most Eastern countries are predominantly Slavic, for the ultimate eastern feel.) We had just left Italy, and were on our way to Austria. However, during our time in Italy, we had a Vatican City tour in Rome. Prior to arriving, our trip leader had a fun confession game, which had us all write down 3 confessions that he would say out-loud to the entire group. I consider myself a horrible liar. This is why I have always preferred living truthfully and honestly. I couldn't lie on that piece of paper, not even to save my already burned and charred reputation of the fucking weirdo of the trip. I wrote them down as I felt,
